London, IP & TV World Forum, March 20th: Conax, global security specialist for protecting digital TV and multi-device video content distribution, today announced it will deliver a portfolio of pre-integrated, best-of-breed ecosystems together with selected, strategic partners, enabling operators world-wide to enhance their offerings with advanced services such as multiscreen and on-demand services.

Operator benefits will include faster roll-out of new features and time to market, easier customization and reduced costs for delivering new services to connected devices such as hybrid set-top-boxes, connected TVs, tablets and iPhones.

Scenario – an evolving landscape for connected devices
With the development of consumer devices and increased access to broadband networks, TV subscribers are demanding more advanced video and entertainment services. Distributors of pay-content need to deliver services with ease of use, and quality of experience capable of supporting innovative new applications. Strong existing subscriber bases, network delivery, content relationships, marketing expertise and back office payment infrastructures, place pay-tv operators in pole position to supply these new services.

Until now, primarily large operators have capacity to integrate and roll out comprehensive ‘Next Generation’ TV ecosystems with the resources to generate long-term return on investment. Thus, the majority of pay-tv operators face a significant commercial challenge in rolling out and maintaining advanced services.

-“Securing content lies at the heart of any pay-content ecosystem, says Tom Jahr, EVP Products and Partners, Conax. Conax focuses on security only. Our open partnering strategy enables operators to take advantage of best-of-breed components delivered by Conax strategic partners for complete turn-key solutions.

Partnering for hybrid OTT services, best-of-breed ecosystem
-“ One of the solutions Conax will be releasing in the near future, is a high performance pre-integrated, connected device ecosystem for hybrid-broadband-broadcast content, together with middleware provider, Cubiware, and Content Management System provider, MPS Broadband. A proven history and combined knowledge and expertise make Conax, Cubiware and MPS Broadband ideal partners for all operators targeting launch of advanced TV services, says Tom Jahr. Details of the complete solution will be launched at Anga Cable in Cologne in June.”
-“Pay TV operators are looking for means to deliver impressive, secure and consistent service across multiple devices. Cubiware is delighted to respond to these needs together with its partners: Conax and MPS Broadband. Cubiware’s highly flexible middleware offers advanced and robust applications for multiple client devices. Together with best security and content preparation provided by the partners this joined solution can allow advanced services for significant group of operators, says Jakub Gorski, CEO of Cubiware.”

-“MPS is very excited to be in this partnership” says Anders Nilsson, CEO. “We each bring considerable experience of our own area and best in class elements. Our MPS Media Platform together with security and market access from Conax, joined by Cubiware’s middleware presents an unbeatable combination.”

Meet Conax at IP & TV World Forum: Stand #197
Conax’ Pre-integrated Ecosystem solutions will reduce the technical complexity for operators, decrease time to market and reduce exposure to the risks of untested solutions, making the transition to providing advanced services and product offerings both manageable and profitable.

At NAB 2011, MPS Broadband will introduce “IPTV 2.0” providing it´s Internet TV technologies on Windows Azure

LAS VEGAS — April 12, 2011 — This week at the 2011 National Association of Broadcasters Show (NAB), MPS Broadband announced the launch of the live streaming technology Peer2View™.

Based upon cutting edge Swedish research, Peer2View™ optimally solves the network congestion problem. Peer2View™ is built for distribution of live events and linear TV over the internet and corporate networks. The solution scales infinitely with up to 99.9% bandwidth savings.

“After almost five years of development and testing we are finally ready for launch. Peer2View™ is ISP and Network friendly. By keeping traffic local, and with support for Microsoft Silverlight we combine the efficiency of Peer2View™ with Microsoft Internet Information Services (ISS) Smooth Streaming,“ says Anders Nilsson CEO, MPS Broadband.
“Making Peer2View™ available on Windows Azure, together with the functionality of our proprietary MPS Publishing Platform® (MPP) and seamless CDN fallback, we are geared to change the concept of live and linear TV over IP. We call it IPTV 2.0” added Nilsson.

Peer2View™ is a structured P2P technology based upon a cutting edge mathematical algorithm, which optimally solves the peer assignment problem.
• Built for distribution of live events and linear TV over the internet and corporate networks.
• Scales infinitely with up to 99.9% bandwidth savings.
• ISP and Network friendly by keeping traffic local. Includes seamless CDN fallback, and can co-exist with Unicast solutions.
• Support for Silverlight – combining the efficiency of Peer2View™ with the Microsoft Internet Information Services (ISS) Smooth Streaming

The MPS Publishing Platform® (MPP) provides functionality for all stages of the publishing pipeline and is offered as a suite of modules; including a rich set of standards-based Web API’s. Together the modules create the toolbox you need to quickly and costs effectively launch any online video service. The MPP has been accredited by major quality content rights holders e.g. Universal Pictures, Buena Vista, Warner Brothers.

“We understand that media customers need a hybrid, flexible approach that allows them to access a custom set of offerings and tools specific to their needs,” said Jake Winett, director of Media & Entertainment Industry Solutions, Microsoft Communications Sector. “Through the Windows Azure platform, partners such as MPS Broadband are able to balance multiple applications within a cloud environment, making it easy for M&E companies to create, manage, deliver and monetize media on a wide range of platforms and devices.”

MPS Broadband AB is a privately owned technology company headquartered in Stockholm with sales offices in London and New York. The company was founded in 2003 and has 45 employees.
