Telia Sonera

TeliaSonera is a leading telecommunications company in the Nordic and Baltic region and also holds strong positions in mobile communications in Eurasia, Turkey and Russia. At the end of 2006 TeliaSonera launched mobile services in Spain.

Aim
Telia Sonera Finland together with Microsoft decided to launch video services through the online video store in Windows Media Centre Edition (MCE). Microsoft recommended TeliaSonera to contact on of the partners Microsoft had accredited for the launch of Windows Media Centre. The choice fell on MPS Broadband who provided more than 10 services in 8 countries in Microsoft Media Centre online video stores.
 
Solution
The choice of vendor for the services was MPS Broadband in partnership with Microsoft to provide services for the online video stores. The first services was launched in Q2-2006 and TeliaSonera as well as content from other users of the MPS Video Services including video-on-demand, Karaoke, travel shows and Cartoons.

In a push to expand the services  TeliaSonera acquired the live broadband rights for 2007 the Formula 1 season.

Since the opening race in Australia in mid march MPS Broadband, in co-operation with Maxisat and MTV3 Max, have provided Telia Sonera´s broadband customers with live coverage of all races. The service has not only included the Grand Prix races, but live coverage from every practise session throughout the entire season.

Results
